Barrus Adds MerCruiser at London Boat Show
01 Jan 2002
E P Barrus Ltd attended the London Boat Show for the first time as distributors of the MerCruiser engine range.
MerCruiser diesel and petrol inboards and sterndrive engines will now be distributed through the specialised dealer network established by the Barrus Marine Diesel Division.
MerCruiser joins the Yanmar and John Deere engine line up already established by Barrus for both cruising and commercial applications. The Marine Diesel Division can now supply a combination of petrol and diesel sterndrives and inboards ranging from 9 to 500hp.
The London Boat Show saw the debut of a new 300hp Mercruiser diesel sterndrive.
The D4.2L 300 is an electronic fuel injected, turbocharged and aftercooled six cylinder unit available with a choice of three heavy duty drives designed to take extra torque. Based on the same block as the established 250hp diesel, the new engine features a new, bigger turbocharger to increase air flow while the intake duct between the turbo and aftercooler has been redesigned to further improve air flow characteristics. Revised settings on the electronic control module allow increased fuel flow while noise and emission levels are reduced by new dual stage injectors.
