Repair Gets a Share at Pomerania
01 Jan 2002
The privately owned Pomerania Shipyards in northwest Poland's industrial heartland is planning to build upon its success in the British market with new designs for 18m and 24m trawlers.
Perhaps best known in the UK for building the highly successful trawler Vandal for a Shetland Isles owner when the yard was known as Parnica Shipyard before privatisation in 1999, Pomerania has gone on to build four 28m stern trawler sister ships to the Vandal.
Most recently completed is the 15th stern trawler hull constructed in the 17m to 19m range.
While newbuilds are a significant part of Pomerania's business, the yard also carries out extensive conversion and repair work, sharing the use of a massive drydock with Gryfia Shipyards.
