New Marine Safety Consultancy Service

Southampton-based Ocean Safety has launched a new design, drawing and consultancy service created to provide technical and detailed safety specifications for shipbuilders and naval architects in the commercial, defence and leisure sectors.

The consultancy team has the capability to analyse new and existing vessels and produce the necessary specifications and drawings detailing the requirements and correct positioning of the life saving appliances (LSA) and fire fighting equipment. The team takes into account the relevant aspects of the prevailing safety regulations and will ensure that most advantageous solutions are found whilst complying with current legislation.

Leading the consultancy team is Mick Martin, who has 30 years experience in the commercial marine life saving equipment industry and is currently working for the European Commission on the Mutual Recognition Agreement of LSA with the USA.

Ocean Safety has already undertaken product design and specification work on a number of projects including cradle and liferaft launching systems on behalf of the UK's Ministry of Defence as well as additional product development. The consultancy service has been accredited with ISO 9001.
