Nemag's Eco-Grabs Go Shipboard in Turkey
01 Jun 2002
The Dutch designer and builder of bulk grabs, Nemag, reports growing interest in crane grabs with an environmetally friendly full enclosure format.
One current order is for three grabs to be used on board the Transhipper, a floating bulk transhipment ship being built at the Remontowa Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland for operation near a 1,200MW coal-fired power generating station at Iskendren in Turkey.
The floating transhipment installation will be fitted with three 45 tonne Liebherr clamshell cranes and a conveyor system from Dutch supplier Stokman.
Nemag says that specific requests for environmentally friendly grabs have seen a remarkable surge from central Europe and elewhere as operators respond to increased demand for best practice with industrial bulk transhipment.
Nemag's fully enclosed grabs have an excellent volume to weight ratio which combines efficiency with their solid environmental credentials.
