Caterpillar Debuts New Marine Genset at seawork2002 Exhibition

Caterpillar is to launch the brand new Cat 3054 marine generator set at seawork2002.

The new genset has been specifically designed to provide the commercial marine market with a reliable, clean and efficient source of onboard power.

The Cat 3054 is an in-line four cylinder, 4 litre engine based unit which is available in turbocharged or naturally aspirated configurations. The turbocharged versions offer power outputs of 90kVa 3 phase at 60 hertz and 75kVa 3 phase at 50 hertz whilst the naturally aspirated version has options including 43kVa 3 phase 50 hertz.

The Cat 3054 genset is easy to install, with either keel or heat exchanger cooling. It is easy to maintain and produces low emissions with reduced noise and vibration.

Caterpillar's Stand XX at seawork2002 will also showcase the latest Cat 3126B commercial marine engine. It is the only fully electronically controlled engine in its class and is specifically designed for commercial applications requiring heavy, medium and intermittent duty engine performance. The 7.2 litre in-line six cylinder engine weighs 824kg and offers power ratings of 250hp, 275hp and 315hp at 2,400 rpm. It features Caterpillar's Hydraulically Actuated, Electronically Controlled Unit Injector fuel system (HEUI), which provides vessel operators with greater flexibility for electronic control strategies, helping to determine engine performance and emissions control characteristics.

The 3126B is easy to service and maintain thanks to HEUI's elf-adjusting fuel rack and timing setting. Significant performance improvements have been achieved because of a new turbocharger and cylinder head design.

Caterpillar's Stand XX will also feature Sabre M85T, M92 and M215L engines as well as representation from MaK.
