    Dutch JV Begins Installation Work on Offshore Wind Turbine Project

    Two Dutch contractors - Mammoet and Van Oord ACZ - have revealed details of the jack-up barge they have built and started to use as a platform to serve the rapidly growing market in Europe for offshore wind turbine installation work. 

    Droitwich Junction locks restored

    The Inland Waterways Association (IWA) and Droitwich Canals Trust (DCT) have announced the completion of the restoration of Hanbury Locks on the Droitwich Junction Canal. The re-opening ceremony took place on 31 May when the first boat to pass through the Locks was steered by Tom Mayo who is thought to have been on the last boat to travel on the Canal before it closed nearly 75 years ago. 

    SA Port Development Project Planned

    Coega Industrial Development Zone and Ngqura Port in the Eastern Cape in South Africa - which covers an area of 12,000ha of land adjacent to a proposed deep-water port providing serviced industrial sites with purpose-built infrastructure - have released preliminary details of a number of marine civils contracts which will be let in the near future. 

    ABPmer hosts dredging workshop

    Representatives from major European ports were recently welcomed by Associated British Ports' (ABP) Port of Southampton and ABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd (ABPmer) - ABP's Southampton-based research subsidiary - for the eighth annual International Workshop on Dredging and Surveying.
