Buoyant Hydrosphere Lights Up Exhibition
01 Jun 2002
After a long winter of development, the hampshirebased navaids supplier Hydrosphere UK Ltd will launch a new range of low cost navigation and regulatory buoys on Stand 126 at seawork2002.
The SBY range is suitable for navigation marks in marinas, small ports and harbours and in rivers. A special version has been produced to meet the needs of fish farmers.
Designed to support the Carmanah range of self-contained solar powered lights, the buoys are constructed using a high density foam shape covered in a tough polymer sheath. The structure is supported by a galvanised steel skeleton.
Two standard sizes are available.
The 70cm diameter SBY-70 has a 1m focal plane and the larger SBY-100 1m diameter buoy has a 1.35m focal plane. The buoys are available in all standard shapes and colours with or without topmarks.
Also released is the RBY range of regulatory buoys for swim and ski area marking, instruction provision and hazard warnings. These buoys use the same technology as the SBY range and can carry a limitless range of messages. All buoys carry a bolt-on ballast weight to provide stability in the absence of chain moorings.
Hydrosphere have also released the new VLB-44 ten mile navigation beacon from Vega.
Based upon the established VLB-38 unit, this six tier device is fully programmable in terms of flash pattern, output power and day/night threshold. The VLB range also provides measurements of the operation in the field to the end user via a hand-held programmer unit. Both lights are fully compliant with the Vega-Tel monitoring system.
