Oceanscan Brings VideoRay to seawork2002 exhibition
01 Jun 2002
Oceanscan Ltd comes to seawork2002 with a selection of the equipment it has procured over the last 18 months as it consolidates its position as a leading supplier of technology and personnel to the global subsea oil and gas markets.
Many of the new purchases are industry standards such as Octans fibre optic gyros, Reson multibeam systems, Tritech sonars and bathymetric systems but Oceanscan also invests in new products and introduces them to the offshore market from its Aberdeen base and via a network of agents in America, Singapore and Norway.
The latter product category includes the TSS 340 pipetracker and the Edgetech ROV-mountable sub-bottom profiler.
The company's latest new product is the micro-ROV from VideoRay. An agreement negotiated recently with the American manufacturer has seen Oceanscan appointed as their global 'Approved Rental Partner', with the largest pool of VideoRays in the world.
Their 12 units include the early model 2000 up to the latest VideoRay PRO II, complete with obstacle avoidance sonar and mini-manipulator.
Oceanscan purchased the first VideoRay because of its obvious potential for use in port, harbour and nearshore applications but the portability and compact size which makes it a useful inshore tool has proven to be a springboard for its acceptance in the offshore market as well.
