The Met's New Targa a Force at seawork

Wessex Marine again voyages the short distance from Poole to Southampton to exhibit their ubiquitous Targa 31 model on the floating pontoon at seawork2002.
In addition to this new boat, visitors to seawork may also see one of the latest commercial Targas in service with the Harbour Master of the ABP Port of Southampton. The Targa 25 is not participating directly in the show but keen boatspotters are likely to sight it as it goes about its many and varied duties around Southampton Water.
The newbuild on show at seawork2002, direct from the Botnia factory in Finland, is the third such vessel to be supplied by Wessex Marine to London's Metropolitan Police Service.
Trialed and commissioned immediately before the show, and with additional specialist police equipment fitted by Wessex Marine, the boat appears at seawork2002 with the kind co-operation of the Metropolitan Police.
In the last five years, Targa has become a popular choice in the supply of fast response craft to meet the varied demands of police work. The initial Targa 31 for the Thames Division of the Metropolitan Police was commissioned in 1997 and was the force's first ever production craft purchase.
Every Targa 31 can be supplied to full Orange Code compliance and smaller models are options for anyone requiring year-round fast response and crew comfort whatever the season or weather.
