    Azipod Propulsion for New USCG Icebreaker

    ABB has been awarded a contract by the Marinette Marine Corporation to supply electric propulsion drives and azipod propulsion systems and to act as the engine room single system integrator for a new Great Lakes Icebreaker design. 

    SAM Extends Shaft Alternator Range

    STN Atlas Marine Electronics has extended its range of shaft alternators for supplying mains power driven via the ship's engine with the introduction of a new series of PWM (pulse width modulation) controlled systems providing improved rates of power generation at lower cost. 

    Suzuki Supplies Power for New MCA Pollution RIB

    A new Sea Rover workboat powered by twin Suzuki 50hp EFI 4-stroke outboards has entered service with the Counter Pollution Branch of the UK's Maritime & Coastguard Agency. 

    Inshore Fishing Boat Gets Perkins Sabre Power

    A Perkins Sabre M130C engine has been chosen to power Lorraine Ruth, a new Kingfisher K26 static-gear, inshore netting fishing boat built and now operated by Keith Isles, based on Tresco, one of the Isles of Scilly. 

    Volvo Penta Powers 'Size Matters'

    Charter fishing boat skipper and operator Graham Hannaford has now commissioned Size Matters, a new, purpose-built 45ft Canadian Guimond 45 Sports Fisherman. The boat is operational year-round and at all states of the tides from the walk-on/walk-off pontoon in Sutton Harbour, Plymouth UK. 

    Gearbox Certification Lands French Police Boat Order

    In choosing transmissions to team with its MAN engines, Nanni Diesel Industries considered several factors for completing the construction of 24 new French Gendarmerie boats. When it was confirmed that one of the major factors, Lloyds Registry of Shipping (LRS) approval, was part of Twin Disc's overall package, the decision went in favour of the Wisconsin USA based manufacturer Construction of the 20m boats begins this autumn at the Beneteau facility in Noirmoutier, an island off the French coast.
