ARGE - Kuestenschutz, the German consortium of major towage companies, has won a contract from the German Transport Ministry to supply two stand-by-tugs to be stationed at Rostock-Warnemuende and at Sassnitz on the Island of Ruegen.
The Fairplay 26 of Fairplay Towage, Hamburg, has been on contract at Rostok since October 2001. This arrangement has now been extended for another six month period with an option for a further six months, and sister ship Fairplay 25 has also been chartered to cover a new station at Sassnitz. Fairplay 25 and Fairplay 26 are identical 35m ASD tugs of 5500bhp with a bollard pull of 65 tonnes. now bear the names; RM Margaux, RM Moulis, RM Paullac .A new tug fleet has been formed by Societe de Remorquage L Thomas of Rouen to provide towage services at the port of Bordeaux. Four secondhand tugs, mainly from northern Europe, have been purchased for the purpose and and RM Pomerol.
.Unterweser Reederei (URAG) of Bremen has transferred the 4,350bhp Voith tractor Bremen toassociates Lutchens & Reimers in Hamburg bearing the name Accurat. The tug replaces the 2,176bhp tractor Accurat which has been returned to the Weser as Grohn.
.The second 16500hp deepsea tug for Klyne Tugs (Lowestoft) Ltd was launched without ceremony on the 23 October at the yard of Yantai Raffles in China. To be named Anglian Sovereign, the vessel will be delivered early next year.
