    VT Ocean Sciences' Ship-Time Prize

    VT Ocean Sciences, the joint venture between VT Group and the University of Wales at Bangor, has launched a scheme for applicants within the European marine science community who want funded ship-time aboard its research ship launched in the summer of last year, RV Prince Madog. 

    IMarEST Accreditation

    The London-based Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST), the international professional body and learned society which claims to be the largest marine organisation of its kind with a worldwide membership of 16,000 in over 100 countries, is now offering accredited membership to hydrographers, geologists and oceanographers among others. 

    Suez Canal Contract

    Atlas Hydrographic, based in Cairns, Australia and Bremen, Germany, has been awarded a contract worth more than €500,000 by the Suez Canal Authority in Ismailia for supply of multibeam echosounding facilities and associated equipment. According to the company, the equipment will be primarily used aboard a survey launch for pre and post-dredging hydrographic operations along sectors of the 193km-long Canal.
