Gareloch Expands Fleet with Multi-Role 'Laura M'

Scottish marine plant operator Gareloch Support Services (Plant) Ltd has taken delivery of a new MRV 20 multi-role vessel built by Halmatic at their Portchester yard. The Laura M becomes Gareloch's flagship vessel, complementing an existing MRV 15 and a 10m Damen Multi-Cat.

Laura M is designed to maximise the capabilities of a 20 by 8m working platform, with the wheelhouse aft on the port side to provide a large clear working deck. Deck equipment gives the vessel serious lifting capability, with an Effer 65t/m crane coming complete with a three tonne winch attached to the main boom. The deck winch is a Spencer Carter 20 tonne double drum which can operate over either the recessed bow roller or stern bell mouth and two tonne mooring winches are located at each corner.

The vessel is powered by two 525hp Cummins marine diesels to give a bollard pull in excess of 12 tonnes. CAT 2 Coding allows the vessel to work throughout Europe.

The vessel is available for charter from this month, with Gareloch Support Services actively talking to several interested parties for longer term charter.

The Laura M will be covered more thoroughly in a Vessel Launch feature in the November issue of Maritime Journal.
