Flexible Carbon Fibre Propellers Make seawork Exhibition Debut

Fleetwater Marine Ltd will have an easy journey to make its seawork debut as the company is based at Ocean Quay in Southampton. Fleetwater Marine has just launched a range of carbon fibre Contur Marine Propellers which offer lighter weight and quieter, more efficient performance than traditional technology.

Propeller technology has remained essentially unchanged for many years as other marine components such as masts and hulls have seen the introduction of carbon fibre. Contur Marine Propellers are exceptionally strong and deliver a weight saving of up to 70% compared with bronze cast propellers.

They are extremely quiet, with almost no vibration, humming or cavitation, and their corrosion resistant blades are self pitching and replaceable. They deliver up to a 15% increase in speed and acceleration and boost fuel efficiency by a similar margin.

Contur Marine Propellers differ from other carbon fibre propellers on the market.

Instead of using moulded carbon fibre, they are manufactured from many layers of carbon fibre matting cut and laid in precise order to allow a pre-determined flexing of the propeller blade pitch.

This unique property allows the Contur blade to continually adjust to the load applied and the conditions encountered, delivering optimal pitch at all times.

Three ranges of Contur Marine Propellers are available to suit all sizes and styles of boats, whether displacement, semi-displacement or planing; commercial, military or leisure.

Propeller sizes range from 50cm diameter up to 5m, with larger or smaller one-off designs also available.
