Cheetah Goes Surfing at Bude

Isle of Wight based Cheetah Marine have delivered a 6.2m Cheetah catamaran to a commercial fisherman in Bude, Cornwall who will use it for potting and netting off the North Cornish coast. With a shallow sand bar guarding the entrance to Bude harbour and heavy Atlantic surf often rolling in, the Cheetah was chosen for its shallow draft, stability and sea keeping qualities.

The 6.2 is fitted with a single Honda 90hp outboard engine which will deliver a top speed of 25 knots while consuming an average of only 7 litres of fuel per hour in mixed usage. The custom built Cheetah features a Spencer Carter 'Solo' winch on the port side and a 750lb slave hauler on the starboard side commercial console. The stern features a fully removable net shoot.

Cheetah designer Sean Strevens said, 'Bude is an exposed part of the coastline and the reason this fisherman changed his boat was so that he could get out to sea more often and not lose so many days due to high seas and bad weather.

His new Cheetah 6.2 will handle most conditions, increasing catch and revenue.'
