Facelift for St George's
01 Dec 2003
The 675m long St George's Bridge at Doncaster crosses the South Yorkshire Navigation Canal, River Don and the East Coast Main Line.
It is the last link in the UK's new Northern Relief Road. When Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council was required to survey the bridge recently, it hired a Moog MBI 230 Bridge Inspection Platform from access specialists Facelift.
The Moog has a reach of 23m, which spans the full width of the bridge and provides access for four engineers at a time. This enabled a full survey of the structure to be carried out in only four nights.
West Sussex based Facelift GB Ltd hires a range of bridge inspection equipment which includes three different types of underbridge units from Moog and Simon Engineering as well as new Aichi Big Deck Platforms.
