Dredger Contract for K Damen

Shipyard K Damen at Hardinxveld-Giessendam in The Netherlands has signed a contract to build a 3,880m 3capacity trailer suction hopper dredger for Scelveringhe Scheepvaart BV.

The Scelveringhe will be fitted with its own dry unloading installation.

The Scelveringhe will be fitted with its own dry unloading installation for its primary purpose of sand winning, considerably increasing the capacities of its Yerseke based owners' current two dredger fleet.

Scelveringhe's hull is being built at Santierrul Naval Braila in Romania, with outfitting to be completed at K Damen's Hardinxveld-Giessendam yard.

The dredger is scheduled to be ready for trials in February 2004.

The vessel will be fitted with a MAK type 9M32C main propulsion engine delivering a total output of 4,320kW to a 3.6m diameter controllable pitch propeller. A 1,800kW MAK Type 6M25 engine will be installed to drive the dredge pump.
