01 Jan 2003
RV Prince Madog, the Dutchbuilt research ship jointly operated by VT Ocean Sciences and the University of Wales' School of Ocean Sciences at Bangor, is available for charter during this spring and summer for commercial survey, research and leisure use.
It can accommodate up to 20 students and scientists on day cruises, or around 10 scientists for longer research operations.
Designed to operate from close inshore to continental shelf edges, the 35m-long vessel is equipped with wet and dry laboratories, containers and hoists. Hydrographic systems include an RDI broadband ADCP, Kongsberg-Simrad positioning, echosounder and data acquisition systems, a GeoAcoustics pinger, a QTC seabed classification system, and meteorological as well as oceanographic sensor suites from WS Ocean Systems.
Ian Piper of VTOS says applications will be treated on a first-come-first-served basis.
He can be contacted either by telephone 02393 354774 or email: PrinceMadog@vtis.com
