World's Biggest Offshore Supply Ship Delivered

The 7000dwt Edda Fjord, which reports said cost NOK340 million, is 98.2m long and 22m wide and is well equipped for ocean and deep water service.
Designed with the emphasis on high performance, low emission, efficiency, safety and economy, she has been built on the proven VS498 design which has been the basis for all Ostensjo's supply vessels for years. She is the third multipurpose platform supply vessel (MPSV) listed in the current Ostensjo fleet. The others are the 87.1m long Edda Freya and another newbuilding, the 84.7m ROV survey ship NB300-ST253.
Edda Fjord boasts what is said to be the world's largest offshore deck crane, with a lifting power of 100 tons, as well as a 30 ton deck folding crane.
Her diesel-electric propulsion system comprises two 3600kW generators and one 5400 kW unit, two 4500kW propulsion motors (for a total 12240bhp), two 400mm-diameter, variable-pitch propellers and two Ulstein High lift rudders. Speed is given as 16.5 knots.
