Rapid Response Is ACE On Every Deck

ACE Winches has designed, manufactured and supplied a 75 tonne towing/anchor handling winch complete with a 150kW diesel hydraulic power pack and control system in only six weeks for Bue Viking of Aberdeen to install on board their vessel Bue Islay .

The complete winch, power pack and control system in-situ on board Bue Islay only six weeks after the order date.

The winch is driven by a single two-speed Hagglund motor and spur gear reduction.

A double brake system was fitted to the winch to meet the towing requirements of the vessel. This was achieved by fitting a heavy duty drum band brake along with a Hagglund brake, acting directly on the motor.

The ACE hydraulic power pack was manufactured using an off-the-shelf Linde hydraulic pump and Deutz air cooled engine. The control system for the winch was designed by ACE and incorporates fully automatic brake release functions and manual directional and two speed controls.

ACE Winches' large stock of hydraulic drive units and gears enables the company to manufacture and deliver a wide range of custom made winches in short timescales. ACE is currently manufacturing a bespoke 90 tonne towing winch and power pack system which will be delivered to Dubai later this month.

This package will also be delivered within six weeks of the date of order.

ACE Winches has also added to its product range by taking up the sole distributorship in the UK and Ireland for newly formed HS Marine Cranes of northern Italy. HS Marine provides solutions for material handling and lifting challenges in the marine and offshore industries, supplying all types of cranes from 5 t/m up to 1,000 t/m. HS Marine cranes are designed based on a modular approach to production across the range.

ACE Winches' managing director, Alfred Cheyne, believes the new partnership will benefit both companies via the further development of compatible products for a demanding market.
