VOSTA LMG and Damen to Build Vietnam Dredger

Vosta LMG 's Amsterdam office will act as main contractors for a 1,500m 3capacity trailing suction hopper dredger to be built at Damen Shipyards Cargo Vessels in Hoogezand. The vessel, for Waterway Dredging and Construction Company 1 of Vietnam, will be delivered in the first quarter of next year.
The 64m dredger will be used primarily for maintenance dredging of Vietnam's main commercial ports, particularly Hai Phong and Hon Gai. It also has modern capabilities for capital dredging and will be capable of dredging to a depth of 21m through its single 600mm diameter suction pipe.
Vosta LMG will provide the basic engineering and dredging components, including a Vosta LMG 550-1530 dredge pump and a Vosta LMG 60-160-110 draghead. Vosta LMG will also provide the dredging automation system, with its own DCMS software governing integrated loading computer and production calculation, suction pipe position indication and control, process control and monitoring of dredging, data logging and reporting, and the alarm system.
Two 1,200kW main diesel engines will take on the additional duties of driving the jet pump and dredge pump as well as powering the 1,916dwt vessel to a sailing speed of ten knots.
