Watts Happening for German Pollution Control Vessel

STN Schiffselektrik GmbH , a subsidiary of STN Atlas Marine Electronics , has been awarded a contract by Peene-Werft shipyard for the supply of all electrical and electronic equipment to be installed aboard a project named SUBS Ostee , a new pollution control vessel built for Germany's Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute (BAW).
Due for completion next year, the 1,500dwt, 65m long vessel is designed to meet all marine pollution control needs as well as firefighting and emergency towing operations, buoy tendering work, icebreaking, life saving, and shipping police support tasks.
STN Schiffselektrik's scope of supply, to be carried out in association with the parent company, includes energy and DC power generation and distribution plant, frequency converters, lighting, automation, security/ safety, alarm installations, communications, a NACOS integrated navigation command system, safety equipment for welding, and all cabling.
The frequency converters will feed a diesel electric propulsion system together with two pods and one bow jet drive, while four diesel generators will deliver drive and electrical energy for the vessel's power supply system.
