01 Jun 2003
Engine suppliers E P Barrus return to their familiar quayside location for seawork2003 secure in the belief that they provide not only the widest range of marine engines but also the best trained dealer network.
A total of 365 marine technicians have recently attended a comprehensive range of training courses as part of Barrus' 2003 Service Training Programme for their national network of Mariner and Mercury dealers.
Effective training is a vital part of the support Barrus offers to its dealers. There is a dedicated Technical Training School at the company's vast Bicester UK headquarters which provides a professional facility for dealer and internal staff. Courses are also held off site and at dealer premises around the country, including for the first time a venue in Enniskillen for the northern and southern Ireland dealers.
The Barrus Service Training Programme for 2003 includes a range of hands-on courses including a 2003 Model Update course, OptiMax course, PDI/ OBM Installation course, a 4-stroke EFI course, Fault Diagnosis course, Gearcase Overhaul course and a week long Outboard Motor course.
The courses cater for both new engineers/apprentices and experienced service personnel within the dealerships, offering a high degree of practical content on new product and technology updates. Overhaul techniques, including tools and equipment, fault diagnosis and the fundamental principles and basic workshop techniques for both the Mariner and Mercury range are also included.
