    SMS Offer New Humber Towage Service

    A new fleet is being formed by SMS Towage Ltd to offer towage services in and around the Humber ports. The Hessle based company acquired the stern-drive tugs Tradesman and Trueman in Hong Kong and they were transported to the UK as deck cargo aboard the MV Svenja , arriving in Hull on the 15 April.

    From Ireland there is news that Marine Transport Services Ltd of Cobh has purchased the tractor tug Breedbank from Smit International . Built by Bodewes in 1969 the 33.23m tug has two Werkspoor main engines producing a total of 2800bhp.

    It is a little over a year ago that the new Carrousel Towing System was first introduced to the towage industry at the ITS 2002 Tug & Salvage Convention in Bilbao. 

    Damen Build for Algeria

    Damen Shipbuilders ofGorinchem are well advanced in a major building contract to supply seven azimuthing stern drive tugs to Algeria. Built to the highly successful Damen ASD 3110 design all seven vessels have been ordered by Entreprise Portuaire (EPAL) and will be delivered to various ports around Algeria. 

    Adsteam Announce Review

    Australian based Adsteam Marine Ltd has announced the commencement of a major restructuring of its global operations. The plans were announced as part of a comprehensive review of the company's operations undertaken by the new Managing Director, Mr John Moller.
