Transcendent Targa Travels to seawork
01 Jun 2003
It's not too far up the English south coast from Poole to Southampton but whatever the sea conditions in mid-June, the seawork bound Targa from Wessex Marine can anticipate an untroubled voyage. When the unprecedented fifth Targa 31 for London's Metropolitan Police in only four years was handed over last month, it was delivered through stormy seas from Poole to the River Thames in one day without stopping.
There is a community of Targa owners in the Channel Islands, where the sturdy Finnish built craft are much appreciated for their exceptional seakeeping abilities. Targas are at home island hopping in the challenging local waters and give their owners the confidence to commute to France and the UK.
Indeed, one Targa has recently been delivered to Greenland for water based sightseeing tours of glaciers.
For seawork2003 , Wessex Marine will give a first time showing for one of their larger models, with a Targa 35 diving boat on view at the floating exhibition. With the Targa now well established as a popular choice for Fast Response Craft, sharp-eyed visitors to seawork may well spot the ABP Southampton Harbour Master's Targa 25 performing its duties.
As with all Targas, the craft delivers year-round fast response and crew comfort whatever the season or weather. The unique layout of two cockpits, safe walkaround, inside and outside steering, pilot house comfort, overnight accommodation and bespoke build options at production boat prices has given Targa a fast-growing profile for consideration in a variety of commercial roles.
