BGS Bathymetric Software
01 Mar 2003
The British Geological Survey has released the first version of a vector-attributed digital bathymetry software covering UK and adjacent European waters, DigiBath 250.
Its main purpose, says the BGS, is to provide regional scale digital bathymetry as a primary dataset for geographic information systems (GIS) as well as for mapping and modelling of seabeds and sub-seabeds. It can also be used for tidal, current and water column modelling.
Based on a combination of BGS and UK Hydrographic Office bathymetric data originally compiled and published in 1:250,000 offshore geological maps, coverage includes the whole of the UK continental shelf and slope in addition to adjacent waters in the Irish and Celtic seas.
Each sector can be licensed for £250 or £1250 for all six.
