Suzuki Tops Euro Outboard Sales

A 2002 sales increase of over 200% has given Suzuki a clear European lead in the fast growing 115-140hp outboard motor sector. Export figures published recently by ICOMIA handed Suzuki a 27.5% overall market share and 38.1% of four stroke sales, the only area in which Suzuki has an interest.

Top spot was achieved in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Greece and Portugal.

The sales boost is attributed to the successful launch of the DF140, which joined the DF115 introduced in 2001. Both models have proven popular with boat owners seeking lightweight, compact electronic fuel injected four strokes. The year also saw the introduction of Suzuki powered boat packages from manufacturers such as Zodiac/Avon and others.

Suzuki anticipates even better sales when new V6 four strokes in 200, 225 and 250hp versions are introduced in 2004.
