Briggs Lands Three Year Scots Submarine Cable Contract

Briggs Marine Contractors Ltd has been awarded a three year contract to maintain over 100 submarine cable connections for utilities firm Scottish and Southern Energy plc (S&S).
Briggs will be responsible for maintenance and rapid response cover in the event of any potential faults within S&S's network of submarine power cables which runs across inland waterways and around the coast of Scotland, forming an integral part of the utility's electrical power transmission and distribution system.
The S&S submarine network also provides a critical power supply to many of Scotland's island communities, including Arran, Bute, Cumbrae, Skye, the Inner and Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney and Shetland. The underwater system also supplies other parts of the UK including the Isle of Wight.
