    Veripos DGPS Encryption

    Veripos, a subsidiary of Aberdeen-based Subsea 7, is nearing completion of a programme aimed at safeguarding the rights and privileges of users of its European HF Differential GPS network by encrypting signals to prevent unauthorised access. 

    US-Dutch AUV Begins Service

    Echo Ranger, a new advanced unmanned autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) for deepwater surveying jointly developed by Dutch-based Fugro NV and Boeing and Oceaneering International Inc of the US, has begun service for clients in the Gulf of Mexico.

    The German Hydrographic Society (DHyG) is to stage its 18th annual conference in Vienna from 16-18 June. 

    OMGMultibeam Course

    The University of New Brunswick's Ocean Mapping Group in Canada is convening a specialist Multibeam surveying course at Southampton Oceanography Centre from 16-21 June. Lecturers include leading multibeam experts from Canada and the US. 

    EA 600 Sounder Upgraded

    Kongsberg Simrad of Norway has upgraded its EA 600 single-beam echosounder for deepwater surveys over depths down to 11,000m, depending on transducer arrangements. The system now features a higher ping rate with accompanying better accuracy in addition to providing an advanced and synchronized passive mode for depth measurements using a pinger.
