Boskalis Wins Kazakhstan Order
01 May 2003
Royal Boskalis Westminster in the Netherlands has won a major order that includes the construction of an artificial island, the future site of an oil production plant in the Caspian Sea off Kazakhstan.
The island will be surrounded with 'breakwaters' as protection against drifting ice, and the project is worth in excess of $90 million.
Boskalis said it had won the project in a joint venture with Archirodon, an international marine contractor in which it has a minority interest. The client is Agip KCO of The Hague.
