Marina Green Light for Port of Lowestoft

Associated British Ports (ABP) will build a140 berth marina at its East Anglian Port of Lowestoft following planning approval from Waveney District Council.

Lowestoft Haven Marina, in which ABP is investing £1m, will be located at two sites on the port estate. Hamilton Dock will comprise 40 berths and School Road will accommodate 100 berths as well as provide sheltered anchoarge, repairs, chandlery and yacht club facilities.

The marina is expected to attract European visitors, including sailors from Holland and Belgium who like to visit the Norfolk Broads and cruise the coastal waters of Suffolk.

Nick Ridehalgh, ABP's port manager for the Ports of King's Lynn & Lowestoft said, 'As Britain's most easterly port, providing access to mainland Europe, Lowestoft is destined to become a popular port of call for European sailors.'
