UAIS Training Launch in Portsmouth
01 May 2003
Technical training courses covering all aspects of installation and commissioning of Class A Universal Automatic Identification Systems (UAIS) are now available through Portsmouth UK based manufacturer McMurdo.
Last month the company announced the first of a new series of courses designed to help distributors, agents and installers become fully qualified in the theoretical and hands-on knowledge required to install, service and commission UAIS equipment.
The first training course at McMurdo's Portsmouth head office focused on the new McMurdo MT-1 UAIS which has been developed in conjunction with software provider Transas and complies with the mandatory Class A carriage requirements.
The MT-1 has been specified and purchased by a number of independent operators and shipping companies worldwide, making it even more important that marine electronics installers are fully qualified in the installation, operation and maintenance of the MT-1 system.
Each course will be limited to ten people, enabling the trainers at McMurdo to provide detailed, hand-on guidance on all aspects of the equipment. After the intensive two day course, attendees will have an extensive knowledge of the many facets of UAIS and be qualified to carry out an efficient, high quality installation and commissioning of the MT-1 on board vessels.
Further McMurdo technical training courses are planned worldwide, with the next course anticipated to take place in Singapore.
