Make a Date with Mooring Mate at seawork
01 May 2003
Bournemouth UK based Mooring Mate (Commercial) travel to seawork with a new UK distribution deal tucked into their kitbag. Mooring Mate was recently appointed as distributors for the Seaflex Mooring System from Seaflex AB (formerly Ancro Marin AB) of Sweden.
The Seaflex Mooring System for pontoons and single point moorings securely anchors and positions pontoons and buoys in situ regardless of tide and wave movements. Its unique construction permits Seaflex to slowly stretch to twice its length and then return to original form in a smooth operation.
Initial pre-tensioning provides progressive resistance to both horizontal and vertical wave motions. Seaflex does not rust or introduce pollutants into the marine ecosystem and there is no scouring of the seabed as caused by chains. Seaflex requires considerably less maintenance than other mooring systems such as chain.
Thousands of Seaflex systems have been installed worldwide since their invention by Bertil Brandt. They have held firm through the most severe storms, swells from passing vessels, and tidal surge. In reservoir applications they have encountered water level variations of more than 20m without difficulty.
A Seaflex system was even used to moor the football pitch sized Icelandic pen constructed for Keiko the Killer Whale as a way station in his return to freedom.
Mooring Mate will present the Seaflex Mooring System for all visitors to view on Stand S-8 at seawork2003.
