Knuckleboom Cranes Groomed for Europort Launch

Italian crane manufacturer Effer will introduce a new range of small and medium sized knuckleboom cranes at Europort 2003 on Stand 1001 in the Europahal, which will be occupied by their Dutch dealer Promac BV.

'KB Lifting' is a totally new design concept, offering a reduction in weight and a higher level of overall protection as well as increasing the performance and reliability of the system.

Effer has been working with Lloyd's Register of Shipping to develop a new range of foldable cranes designed to be effectively protected against the aggressively corrosive marine environments in which they will operate and also to work effectively when encountering the dynamic motions faced at sea. The first new model to appear, the 12500KB, is claimed to be the only folding crane in the world currently approved for shipboard applications as standard.

The new KB Lifting series cranes are constructed to and have lifting capacities which comply with the LRoS Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment, Harbour Condition.

Crane construction is treated by cathodic electroplating, covering the whole steel inner and outer surface with a uniform and corrosion resistant layer construction. There are new mounting solutions with increased protection and requiring less maintenance. Increased outreach is achieved by up to five sections in full hydraulic extension and newly designed boom sections increase stability. Piping and fittings are made of stainless steel and the cranes also feature fully proportional control banks.
