Commenting on Sir Jock's appointment by the Trustee Committee, RNLI Chief Executive Andrew Freemantle said, 'We are delighted to welcome Sir Jock on board as our new Chairman, especially given the wealth of Naval and seafaring experience that he brings with him. Jock is taking over at a very exciting time for the RNLI just ahead of the official opening of our new Lifeboat College and Survival Centre.

'On behalf of the RNLI, I'd like to extend our warmest thanks to Peter Nicholson who has served as Chairman for the past four years.'
