Oceanology Exhibition is a Major Attraction
01 Feb 2004
With over 90% of exhibition space already reserved by more than 300 organisations from around the world, this year's biennial Oceanology International event at London's ExCel Centre from 16-19 March promises to be a major attraction for hydrographic and oceanographic communities, say organisers Spearhead Exhibitions.
Apart from main conference sessions, there will also be a number of key fringe events including a two-day seminar on Advances in Technology for Underwater Vehicles jointly sponsored by the The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) and the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT); navigation, communications, sensors and payloads will be among the main topics.
Spearhead is additionally organising Marelec 2004 from 17-19 March, billed as the world's foremost conference on marine electromagnetics and dealing with technologies interacting with oceanic and marine environments.
Meanwhile, for students, there is to be a Careers & Education Day on 19 March next to the VIP lounge on the exhibition floor. It will allow OI exhibitors to post company vacancies on notice boards while also enabling universities to promote their academic courses and research requirements.
Outside the main conference and exhibition venue, nearly a dozen specialist vessels will be berthed at the adjoining dockside. Their operators include Andrews Survey, Gardline Survey, Goteborg University, Kongsberg Simrad, OSAE, Rederij Waterweg, Reson, Nato's Saclant, Sonardyne, Subsea 7, and University College London/ Port of London Authority.
