Until now, sediment dredged from the marina has been disposed of at a licensed dumping site outside the harbour, thus removing environmentally valuable material from the area.

In the newly completed project, however, fine mud from the approach channel was dumped at the entrance to the harbour, to allow the fast flowing tides in the area to re-distribute it, providing benefits for flora and fauna in the harbour area.

Premier Marinas says it believes that this technique will also reduce the time it takes to dredge the marina and reduce costs.
