E-Sea Fix Does It for Milford Haven
01 Jul 2004
Following successful trials of the E-Sea Fix pilot navigation system last year, Somerset UK based Atlantas Marine has won an order to install the system at the port of Milford Haven in Wales.
Manufactured by Danish company Marimatech, E-Sea Fix is a self contained, portable navigation system. It enables the pilot to plan and execute a safe passage into port and to berth the vessel with centimetric accuracy while constantly being updated on meteorological data, local ship movements, and under keel clearance.
Atlantas Marine managing director Charlie Foll said, 'E-Sea Fix is already used by many of the major ports around the world and Milford Haven is the first UK port to buy this truly unique aid to navigation. The system enhances the piloting operation by increasing safety and reducing stress. We are confident that other UK ports and terminals will use E-Sea Fix in the future to improve efficiency.'
Captain Mark Andrews, Milford Haven's Harbourmaster, added, 'This is a significant step forward in enhancing safety at Milford Haven by providing pilots with information independent of the ship's own systems.'
Atlantas Marine has also recently landed its largest order ever for the 'X-Pack' AIS system produced by the Austrian company Nauticast. Zodiac Maritime ordered more than 100 AIS systems and over 130 'Ocean Alert' ship security systems manufactured by British company Satamatics. The entire consignment was delivered to the customer within ten days of receiving the purchase order. Atlantas Marine has supplied the Nauticast X-Pack AIS to numerous companies within the UK and Ireland, including Westminster Dredging and Hanson Aggregates.
