    Wind Farm Consultation

    The British Government has stated that it will not site wind farm developments where they could present any danger to navigation. 

    New AIS As Deadline Nears

    Simrad released a new Class A AIS unit last month designed to reduce the overall cost of ownership in order to meet the budget demands of owners and operators required to install this technology by the end of the year. The A180 features full AIS functionality but takes a ‘no frills’ approach in order to keep costs as low as possible. 

    New VTS Unifies South Wales Ports

    A landmark marine control centre which will for the first time enable all commercial shipping entering or leaving the five Severn Estuary ports in South Wales operated by Associated British Ports (ABP) was officially commissioned late last month. ABP has invested £600,000 developing Severn VTS the advanced new VTS centre for their ports of Newport, Cardiff, Barry, Port Talbot, and Swansea. 

    'Broadband at Sea' for Trinity House

    Inventor of the radio and Nobel Prize winner Guglielemo Marconi would be pleased that the current incarnation of the company he founded in 1900 has been selected by the UK's Trinity House lighthouse service to supply, install and maintain the first SeaTel 4003 'Broadband at Sea' system to be ordered in the UK. 

    Transas Adds Value at seawork2004 Exhibition with VAR Status

    Transas Ltd , which will be represented at seawork2004 by Transas Marine , has received Value Added Reseller (VAR) status for the IC-ENC (International Centre for ENCs) official electronic nautical charts. 

    Spain and Sweden Upgrade VTS

    Norcontrol IT has been selected to supply upgrades for the VTS system at the Port of La Coruna in Spain. A new system based on Norcontrol IT's VTMIS 5060 will be in place by this August with added AIS data and information management functionality.
