Ally Duck Down In the Water at seawork
01 Jun 2004
The 80m LOA Terra Marique is some 20 times longer than the smallest Ally Duck, but the two vessels share seawork common ground in addressing the requirements of European commercial marine operators, contractors and project managers.
The range of craft from Falmouth UK based Ally Duck targets workboat applications such as commercial diving, aquaculture, search and rescue, and firefighting as well as some crossover into the leisure sector.
Originally designed and built in South Africa, the boats couple the many advantages of RIB style craft with the immense strength, rigidity and longevity of marine grade aluminium alloy.
The rigid tubes give massive structural strength to the boats, enabling a light and simple overall construction. The 4m hull weighs only 140kg, with the 5.3m version tipping the scales at 340kg and the 6.5 model coming in at 420kg.
Designed for high speeds with safety in the harshest of environments, the boats are available with outboard, Z-drive or jetdrive propulsion and can be custom outfitted in a range of different layouts and with varying equipment.
All craft are RCD Category C coded and MCA coding is available. The 4m version is best suited to sheltered waters but its larger siblings are at home in more exposed coastal conditions.
A unique built-in trailer system is fitted as standard to the smallest boats and available on the larger models. This feature makes visiting multiple sites quick and easy while eliminating the often expensive hassles of a separate trailer.
All three versions of the Ally Duck workboat will be on show at seawork2004 , with the 6.5m version available for demonstration runs from seawork 's floating pontoon.
