See How Daewoo Do It at seawork

Seawork exhibitor WaterMota isgoing from strength to strength supplying Daewoo engines for workboat applications across the British Isles. In terms of both volume and variety, WaterMota's achievements with the Daewoo brand are nothing short of stunning.

In Ipswich, the Prince Albert , a 189ft ex-ferry is being repowered with a pair of 720bhp Daewoo V222TIH engines on Dong-I 280 gearboxes with 4.5:1 reduction. These units were sold by WaterMota at seawork2003 .Arranmore Island Ferries have just repowered one of their ferries with 230bhp Daewoos and have ordered another pair of engines with Dong-I gearboxes for their second ferry. The main water taxi servicing the fleet of 40 yachts which began the TRANSAC 2004 race from Plymouth last month is powered by a pair of 230bhp Daewoo engines on Twin Disc gearboxes.

Despite an overall decline in the fishing industry, WaterMota picked up orders at the recent Fishing 2004 exhibition in Glasgow. WaterMota's display in Glasgow included a Daewoo engine as well as the gearbox, power take off, steering system and bilge pumps the company is supplying for a newbuild 11.95m wooden fishing vessel from Macduff Shipbuilders.

Across the waters in Co Donegal, Freil Fishing will receive a new 15m crabber Mary Ellen built by Coastal Marine in Eyemouth and powered by Daewoos. Gemini Workboats is nearing the completion of a new charter boat powered by a pair of 400bhp Daewoo L126TIM engines. Following the successful launch and delivery of yet another Gemini fishing vessel powered by Daewoo engines, Gemini has just taken two more pairs of Daewoo L136 engines on Dong-I gearboxes for two more boats.

Alexander Noble are building a new MFV for a Devon skipper powered by Daewoo with a Twin Disc gearbox. This vessel will be followed in the yard by a fish farming vessel with a pair of 320bhp Daewoos. Morrison Engineering on Skye have orders for two twin screw fish farm vessels which will be powered by Daewoo.

In Whitby, Parkol Engineering is building MFVs and has standardised on Daewoo 8 litre auxiliaries. Harrison & Garrod in Grimsby are building a new MFV which will be powered by Daewoo. WaterMota has just received its first order from the Isles of Scilly for a Daewoo for an MFV while another MFV being built in Co Wicklow requires a Daewoo engine, Dong-I gearbox and steering system, JMP pumps, tailshaft, sterntube and propeller.

The variety of Daewoo applications can be seen in a glass bottom boat being built by Mctay Marine for Seaprobe Atlantis in Skye. In addition to the Daewoo engines, WaterMota are supplying sterngear, propellers and the steering system. A new aluminium Dutch type barge being built by Simms Leppard on the Isle of Wight will be powered by 230bhp Daewoo L136TI engines on Dong-I gearboxes. In seawork 's home Port of Southampton, Williams Shipping's Wilflow has just returned to service following a repower with Daewoo engines on Dong-I gearboxes.

This listing barely scratches the surface. As WaterMota's Mike Beacham said, 'After six years of bloody hard work with Daewoo, the WaterMota packages are proving to be very popular and we are onto a winner.'
