The 90.3m long and 23m wide ship was the sixth AHTS vessel built for Maersk at Volkswerft since 2001. She was being named in a double naming ceremony with the fifth newbuilding in the series, rolled out in January and at the fitting out quay since then.

The fifth ship was expected to be delivered soon and the sixth later this year. The previous four ships were Maersk Assister, Maersk Attender, Maersk Achiever and Maersk Winner.

The multi-purpose offshore newbuildings draw 6.8/7.8m at about 4,523/5000dwt and are propelled by four MaK engines Type 9M32 with total output of 17,270kW. Bollard pulls of at least 270 tons and a free speed of 16.8 knots are claimed.

Equipment includes a 200 ton marine crane on the aft deck, starboard, designed for compensated lifts of 200 tons to 1000 m depth using double fall wires and 100 tonnes to 2000 meters water depth using a single fall.

The ships also have centreline moon pools, 5.2 m x 4.38 m, with built-in wave damping systems in the centreline forward on the main deck. The pools can be serviced by the crane or by the main winch for heavy sub-sea lift operations and can be used for ROV deployment and other operations.

The Maersk ships have all the features of ultra deep water anchor-handling vessels, impressive drum spooling capacities intended both for conventional rig mooring systems as well as fibre rope deployment and retrieval and very large chain lockers, four in total of 1,122m 3. Maersk said anchor-handling, towing and crane capabilities, along with their cargo carrying capacities, gave them excellent flexibility.
