    Alderney Gets Direct Ferry Link With the Continent

    A 16.25m LOA aluminium catamaran ferry nearing completion at Alnmarintec in Northumberland UK will link the 2,400 inhabitants of Alderney in the Channel Islands with Guernsey and Diellette in France. 

    Cleopatra Launches Versatile 'Fast Angler'

    DS Marine , the UK and Ireland distributor for the range of fast workboats built in Iceland by Trefjar Ltd , has announced the arrival the Cleopatra Fisherman 33 and 38 fast fishing vessels. Unlike other craft in the range which all feature a space saving V-drive system, the Cleopatra Fast Angler can, if required, be conventionally engined. 

    BMT Nigel Gee Pursues Modal Freight Shift

    The first of two Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) vessels designed by BMT Nigel Gee and Associates Ltd entered service on the choppy waters of Holland's Western Scheldt last month, with the second to follow next month. The craft have been built by the Damen Shipyards Group for the Province of Zeeland, with principle design and building supervision from Sovereign Marine NV . 

    First Commercial Angling RIB from Red Bay

    Red Bay Boats Ltd have completed their first commercial angling RIB based on their hardnosed 11m RIB but shortened to 9m. The boat has an overall beam of 3.3m, 22in diameter tubes and room in the hard nose which protects the tubes in heavy seas. 

    Cygnus Marine Delivers Irish Twins

    Warm autumn weather saw the first Typhoon 42 s from Cygnus Marine launched in festivities at their home port of Portaleen in Co Donegal. The boats for fishermen Eddie Doherty ( Lady Nuala ) and Danny Farren ( Atlantic Jem ) were built under the fleet development programme of the BIM/Irish Sea Fisheries Board , with the hulls constructed at the Cygnus Marine yard in Penryn, Cornwall UK then delivered to McDonalds Boatyard inGreencastle for outfitting and completion. 

    Izar's Third Set of Twins for Jan De Nul

    Izar Gijon Shipyard has delivered two more trailing suction hopper dredgers to Belgian contractor Jan De Nul .The 4,400m 3capacity twins Taccola and Francesco di Giorgio bring to eight the number of dredgers delivered by Izar in the last two years, six of which have been for Jan De Nul . 

    Spanish Newbuilds for North Star

    The North Star Shipping division of global energy services company, The Craig Group , has signed a £20m contract with Spain's Astillerios Balenciaga SA for four newbuild stand-by emergency response vessels. 

    Camarc Design Chasing Newbuild Bonanza

    A prototype 45ft rapid response boat designed by UK based Camarc Ltd has been delivered to the US Coast Guard for evaluation in a competitive review process against two other prototypes. The Camarc designed Response Boat - Medium (RB-M) was delivered by Seattle USA based builder Kvichak Marine Industries , which had teamed with the Marinette Marine Corporation serving as prime contractor and programme manager for the prototype project. All three prototype vessels are currently undergoing three months of extensive sea trials and evaluations at the USCG base in Portsmouth, Virginia. 

    Divers Thrive With Fast New 7.9 Cheetahs

    The second example of Cheetah Marine 's new 7.9m design has been delivered to Sunart Diving Services of Loch Sunart in Western Scotland.
