Specially designed to work in confined spaces, the 61m LOA vessel is classed as Bureau Veritas I 3/3 for coastal service and can dredge to a maximum depth of 18m. It is as narrow and short as was practicable for confined works but can also work in wide cuts using its long and heavy anchor booms, its 380kN electrically driven side wire winches and its hydraulically driven spud carriage with 750kN pushing force on 27m long spuds.

The dredger will be required to work in hard soils and is thus equipped with a powerful 920kW type SC/40 cutter unit designed and supplied by VOSTA which is suitable for sand, clay and soft rock using variable cutter power. The cutter unit is driven by two 500kW water cooled electric motors through a gearbox and the cutter ladder is extremely heavy duty to cope with local conditions.

The inboard dredge pump works with a 600mm diameter suction pipe and is driven by a 1,920kW Caterpillar diesel.

This can be assisted by a 550kW submerged dredge pump on the cutter ladder.

The two pumps combined enable the vessel to pump over long distances. Two 1,500kVA gensets power the cutter drive and main winches, all frequency controlled, as well as the auxiliaries and hydraulics.

Accommodation includes an office, kitchen/messroom, and sanitary facilities, which along with the wheelhouse and operating room are fully air conditioned. The latest instrumentation and controls are provided, including a dredge profile computer and positioning system.
