Former US Army tug LT 2090 - Larry G Dahl first sold from the Hythe Depot over a year ago has been resold to the Government of Bermuda. The vessel is one of a series of five 30.48m single screw vessels re-conditioned at Hythe with 2,150bhp EMD main engines, new gearboxes and fixed nozzles. They were built in the USA between 1951 and 1954 but stored in almost mint condition and have seen very little service since their reconstruction.

Larry G Dahl had previously been repainted in a black and white colour scheme and believed to be privately owned as a yacht.

The tug was fitted with a bow thruster prior to leaving Britain and is now in service in Bermuda as an emergency standby vessel bearing the new name Edward M Stowe .

Shetland based operators of tugs, survey vessels and workboats Delta Marine hasordered a powerful Damen Multicat 2611 from Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld . Similar in many respects to the triple screw Zwerver II completed for a Dutch owner last year, the new vessel will be powered by three Cummins KT 380 MO rated at 800bhp each. The main engines will drive 1.7m propellers to give the vessel a bollard pull of over 30 tonnes. Two Effer 16,000 3SL cranes will be fitted, along with a 100 tonne anchor-handling winch, a 30 tonne towing winch and a 13 tonne tugger. Delivery is scheduled for March 2005.

Scottish tug owner Targe Towing Ltd has purchased the tugs Cultra and Carrickfergus from the Belfast fleet of Svitzer Marine Ltd . Both tugs are azimuthing tractors of 27.85m, originally built for the Tees Towing Company Ltd by Scott & Sons at Bowling in 1976.

Each vessel is powered by two Ruston 6RK main engines producing a total of 2,200bhp for a bollard pull of 31.5 tonnes.

The transaction was conducted through broker M Vincent (FICS) and both tugs were delivered by mid-May.

Cultra and Carrickfergus replace the Aberdeen based Schelde 12 and Sea Horse operated for many years under charter from URS in Belgium.

Schelde 12 has re-entered service with the Antwerp based fleet and Sea Horse is to be scrapped in Ghent.
