In late August ACE were awarded a contract to manufacture and supply a 150 ton double drum anchor handling towing winch for Consolidated Projects (CPL) of Holland, which operates a large worldwide fleet.

Working around the clock seven days a week, the ACE team met the challenge of designing, manufacturing and delivering the winch by 1 October. CPL's vessel Walvis 17 docked in Peterhead and ACE carried out a full installation and testing of the winch, which along with its compact hydraulic geardrive solution was fully classified and approved by DNV.

The anchor handling towing range of winches recently launched by ACE has been designed and developed over several years. They are powered by an ACE geardrive hydraulic drive unit. ACE Gear Drive gives the option of a large range of winch displacements which can be selected by changing the hydraulic motor size to achieve the power required. ACE's standard gearboxes can have two, three, or four motors fitted of different sizes, producing a wide range of torque.

ACE continues to build up a significant winch hire fleet, with winches available from 5 ton tuggers to a 200 ton drum winch.
