Molasses Passes Through Cardiff

The UK's largest animal feed importer has begun importing molasses through a new £350,000 dedicated facility at the Port of Cardiff .
Some 2,500 tonnes of molasses from Pakistan is discharged from the MV Orakota.
Associated British Ports ' investment converted two storage tanks and installed new ship-to-shore pipelines as part of a five year contract to handle the new business of Arkady Feed .
The MV Orakota , the first ship to call at the new facility, discharged 2,500 tons of molasses sourced from Pakistan.
John Copping, ABP's port director for its South Wales ports said, 'The Port of Cardiff has many years experience handling liquid bulks, from chemicals and petrochemicals to fuel oil and diesel. This diversification into liquid feedstuff will further strengthen the port's position in this trade sector.'
