The Voe Viking , for Delta Marine of Lerwick, is due for completion early next year and was originally specified to carry two of Effer's 16000 3S, 160 t/m cranes. However, since the order was made, Effer has introduced an evolution of the 16000 3S. The shipyard and the customer have agreed to fit the new model 18000 3S instead.

Effer has already delivered four model 12000 cranes to Damen this year for placement on Shoalbuster 2609s.

From a structural point of view the new crane looks similar to the earlier model but in fact makes steps forward in terms of its flexibility of performance and reliability. The basic crane has a capacity of 180t/m but can also be supplied with a double capacity of 180/200t/m.

A simple adoption of a special hydraulic circuit for the 18000 3S results in a most versatile tool for tugs and workboats.
