150 Years for Receiver of Wreck
01 Sep 2004
One hundred and fifty years of the Receiver of Wreck were celebrated aboard HMS Warrior at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard recently. Created with the passage of the Merchant Shipping Act in 1854, the Receiver of Wreck deals with wreck and salvage issues on behalf of the Crown. To mark the occasion, the Mary Rose Trust declared a 4in diameter stone shot ball recovered after 459 years on the seabed in a dive this year.
