Dredging Demand Slows

Dutch dredging giant Royal Boskalis Westminster has posted a modest net profit of ? 7.4m for the first half of 2004, reflecting both a global slowdown for the industry and Boskalis' own re-organisational process which has cost ? 10.7m and some 450 jobs.
New Software for Hard Cutting

Sliedrecht based dredging systems specialist IHC Systems BV has won an order from Belgian contractor Vlaamse Baggermaatschappiij NV toprovide an operational face lift for its 25 year old cutter suction dredger Vesalius . The vessel has been operating on the Spanish coast near Valencia but will be docked in the autumn for works which will include a partial renewal of the dredge control console.
